Ranger XP 900 EPS Named 2014 American Hunter Vehicle Of The Year

Polaris Industries today announced the RANGER XP 900 EPS has been selected as the 2014 American Hunter Vehicle of the Year as part of NRA Publications Golden Bullseye Awards. This is the first time a Polaris vehicle has won the prestigious award.

“Polaris would like to thank American Hunter for recognizing the RANGER XP 900 EPS,” said Warren Lopata, marketing director of the Off-Road Division for Polaris. “Polaris RANGER Side-by-Sides are highly sought after by the hunting community and receiving this award from such a respected name in the industry is a great honor.”

The NRA Publications Golden Bullseye Awards are selected by a seven-member committee consisting of editors, graphic designers and veteran NRA Publications staff, representing more than a century of collective experience in the shooting and hunting industry. Criteria to win the award includes, the unit being tested by a staff member or regular contributor, innovative in design and function, readily perceived as a value to a purchaser, introduced and available to consumers and styled in a manner benefitting the shooting and hunting industry and its enthusiasts.

Polaris defined an all new class of “Hardest Working, Smoothest Riding” with the introduction of the new, full size RANGER XP 900 EPS for model year 2013. The vehicle features a new ProStar™ 900 engine, all-new chassis, more suspension, new restyled cockpit, flip-up seat storage, larger gas tank, integrated Lock & Ride™ PRO-FIT cab accessories, easier serviceability and a quieter ride due to engine repositioning.

The RANGER XP 900 EPS, along with the other NRA Golden Bullseye Award Recipients, can be seen in the May edition of American Rifleman, American Hunter and Shooting Illustrated magazines.

Polaris Off- Road Ambulance Showcased In Delhi

Polaris India Pvt. Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Polaris Industries Inc., displayed its ambulance which is developed by Bafna Healthcare Pvt. Limited on Ranger 6X6 800 in the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) event at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi.

The Ranger 6×6 800 modified ambulances have 6 wheels drive system the vehicle is ideal vehicle to move heavy loads over the harshest terrain. With an engine capacity of 760cc, this vehicle is perfect to manoeuvre on treacherous terrains as well as narrow strips, to supply medical help and assistance to places of difficulty.

Polaris India recently donated 5 ATVs to calamity struck Uttarakhand to help in the rescue and relief operations and the vehicles were of considerable help. ATV Dealers in Kerala

The domestic arm of the US off-road vehicle maker, Polaris Industries, expects 15 per cent of its revenue to come from government agencies, including from the defence and paramilitary forces, in the next three years.

"We feel that about 15 per cent of our India revenue should come from segments like defence, paramilitary forces, and state governments over the next two-three years," Polaris India Managing Director Pankaj Dubey told PTI here.

Dubey said Gujarat government has recently acquired four vehicles as part of a pilot project to patrol its international borders, adding, "we have approached a few other states too to sell our products. Some coastal police have tested these models and have evinced interest."

Polaris manufactures off-roaders, all-terrain vehicles, snowmobiles, motorcycles and electric powered models and those for recereational purposes.

"We have been able to demonstrate our products to the defence and paramilitary forces as well as states. But the deals with these institutions have a long gestation because of the procurement norms," he said.

The demand for off-roaders in the domestic market which is at a nascent stage has been increasing year-on-year, Dubey said, adding, "we are tapping this growing market aggressively with new products, being the first organised player in the segment."

Pegging the market for all-terrain vehicles at around 1,000-1,200 units in 2013, Dubey said, "We have sold around 700 units since our entry two years ago. So far this year, we posted a healthy growth of 25 per cent in sales."

Dubey, however, said growth would have been much higher but for the poor market sentiment.

Polaris does not have a manufacturing base in the country and sells its imported models through 15 dealers.
